There is this guy at school that I like but I don't know if he is gay or not. I read some of the comments on his MySpace, but that was only one side of a conversation and I wanted to know what he said to the person he was talking to but they have their comments hidden. I viewed the source of her MySpace page and I tweaked it so it would show comments then I read his side of the convo.

Creepy? Not really. Very creative, however! If he is gay, he should be flattered that you went to those lengths to find out if he is.

Interesting how the answers tend to divide on gender lines, but not absolutely. Women tend to think this sort of behavior is stalkerish and men tend not to think so. I tend not to think so--it is the web and subject to tweaking. Stalking is when you follow people and stuff. It has a legal definition and shouldn't be tossed around indiscriminately.

Having said that, if you continue to observe from a distance and don't take direct action, that begins to get creepy, yeah.

Yes, but also normal, I think. I say that because I'm sleuthing two acquaintances of mine in a similar way, one for your reason and the other because I'm concerned about him.

Twain said it takes both your enemy and your friend together to really hurt you: the one to slander you and the other to tell you about it. I wonder if anyone is really hurt by activities like ours if no one ever knows about it?

There was a case in the papers where a man was spying on his girlfriend's daughter with hidden cameras. When mom found them, she broke up with the guy but also told her daughter all about the cameras. I wonder if the daughter was better off not knowing?

Isn't this all like the tree falling in the forest with no one to hear it, and the question, does it make a noise?

A little bit, yes. At very least you are invading privacy. Whatever happened to communication? Befriend him, have some conversations with the guy, and get to know him. You can get a lot more information that way then you can by hacking into somebodies private conversations!!!
